The Hillstone Crisp Martini (Vodka Edition)

hillstone crisp

I couldn’t wait to try the Hillstone Crisp Martini when I first saw it—it looked so fresh and inviting. I love cocktails that feel light, not too sweet, and of course, anything served in a martini glass immediately gets me. There’s just something about the elegance of a martini glass that makes the drink feel special, even if it’s a casual night in.

I like to make these martinis when hosting a girls’ night or for a cozy date night at home. They’re simple enough to whip up quickly, but they feel elevated and a little indulgent, which is exactly what you want when you’re entertaining or treating yourself.

Since I don’t usually drink gin, I adapted this copycat recipe using Chopin vodka instead, and it’s perfect. That’s literally the beauty of making cocktails at home—you can tweak them exactly how you like. I kept the St-Germain for its subtle floral sweetness, added fresh lemon juice for a bright, crisp note, and then top it off with a splash of Sauvignon Blanc. The finishing touch for me is a lemon twist as garnish—it just makes the martini feel a little extra special and adds a lovely aroma with every sip.

Making this at home has become my go-to when I want something refreshing and effortlessly chic. Whether I’m enjoying it slowly after a long day or serving it to friends for a girls’ night, it’s light, crisp, and perfectly balanced. The flavor is delicate but flavorful, and it’s a drink that makes any night feel a little more elevated. Honestly, it’s one of those cocktails that you sip, smile, and immediately start planning your next one.

And let’s be real—half the fun of a cocktail is how it looks. Martini glasses make everything feel a little elevated, like you’re treating yourself even on a weeknight. If you want your drinks to look as good as they taste, these are the martini glasses I always reach for.

Servings 1 martini

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz chopin vodka or hendricks gin if you prefer
  • 1 oz St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • splash of sav blanc
  • lemon twist for garnish

Instructions

For the Martini

  • Place your martini glass in the freezer to chill while you prep the cocktail.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add vodka (or gin), St-Germain, and fresh lemon juice to the shaker.
  • Shake well until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
  • Strain the cocktail into your chilled martini glass.
  • Top with a splash of Sauvignon Blanc.

How to Make a Lemon Twist

  • Start with a fresh, firm lemon. Wash it well to remove any wax or residue.
  • Using a sharp paring knife or a vegetable peeler, cut a thin strip of peel. Try to avoid the white pith as much as possible—it’s bitter and can overpower the cocktail. Aim for about ¼ inch wide and 2–3 inches long.
  • Hold the peel over the martini and gently twist it to release the natural oils—this adds a bright, fragrant note to your drink.
  • To curl the twist, wrap it around a straw, cocktail stirrer, or even your finger for a few seconds, then place it in or on the edge of the glass.
  • You can either drop it directly into the martini or drape it over the rim for a polished, elegant presentation.

Notes

  • Using vodka gives a smoother, cleaner flavor, but gin works for a classic botanical twist.
  • Fresh lemon juice makes all the difference in keeping it bright and crisp.
